Innovation converges touch and display forever

Intel said the  the way people interact with digital signage technology in environments such as stores, airports, banks and hotels is going to change. Intel Corporation demonstrated a  multi-user, multi-touch Intel® Intelligent Digital Signage Concept at the National Retail Federation Convention (NRF) in New York.

Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and National Retail Federation Convention (NRF), the demonstration emulates a virtual brick-and-mortar store setting where customers may use the multi-touch holographic screen to explore merchandise, find out about promotions, submit feedback on products, read customer reviews, view past purchasing histories and share what they have discovered with their friends via social media and mobile phone integration.
Multiple consumers can use this side-by-side window display simultaneously to explore augmented reality-enabled maps of each floor of the store, on which retailers can superimpose images such as coupons and sales promotions next to the product visualizations on the glass, improving the customer’s shopping experience.
“As stores seek more competitive advantages over online retailers, digital signage has become a valuable technology for dispersing targeted and interactive content to shoppers,” said Joe Jensen, general manager, Intel Embedded Computing Division. “We therefore designed the Intel Intelligent Digital Signage Concept to show that retailers can engage and interact with consumers in a more personal and compelling manner through new usage models such as augmented reality and interactive product explorations, which in turn could yield an increase in revenue and customer loyalty.”
Clients wishing to implement this concept are able to do so with the ICE Hololite90 Screen, iQRite Touch Frames and the industial grade ICE 82″ LCD panels. Combine with the creative GUI designers and code cutters innovation and enagement can now occur next to the Levi jeans.

Visualisation and Multi Touch go hand in hand CES 2010

You will be engaging with content in entirely new ways and your fingers, feet or body are going to have a major part of the process.

Multi-touch is not just about 10 fingers touching, but rather part of a paradigm shift in how content will be gathered in real-time, displayed in entirely new ways and also in real-time. There are two aspects facilitating this…. the interactive hardware and the software applications like Flex, Flash etc. On the hardware side it is now only becoming viable in the last 2 years or so for this to be implemented out of the lab and into shop windows, expos and the like.

At the biggest innovation expo – CES 2010 in Las Vegas, an exciting range of products were debuted. Intel used multi touch to promote their new 4i7 Processor in this engaging installation for their booth at CES 2010. (Consumer Electronic Show)

Combine Social Media technology, leading edge GUI design and recent hardware developments is creating new ways for viewers to engage with content. The Age of Participation Viewing has arrived.

For the hardware to create this type of installation you could use ICE Digital Daytime screen products such as ICE Dupix or the amazing Blue Ocean high definition all weather screens. For the touch technology you could use iQRite Touch frames. The larger multi touch capability will be available in late 2010 up to 150″.

In this installation also at Intel they are using the display to showcase Intel’s latest processors: the Intel Core i7, Intel Centrino 2, and the Intel Atom. It’s using a real-time 3D engine driving a giant transparent touch-screen. Now both of these products are now available directly from ICE AV. The capacitance technology referred to his available on this download. The transparent touch screen technology is available here and we call it ICE Hololite90. Check out a full range of videos here.

In particular we give you some behind the scene video clips here experimenting and messing around with our Hololite90 and Dupix screens.

Does Windows 7 herald in a new era of GUI interfaces

As operating systems go, Windows 7 certainly will give a major boost in the Microsoft camp, similar to what the iPhone did for Apple. What both these camps have in common is to drive a new way of interacting with content through multiple touch points and manipulation.

Have you noticed that there is a fundamental way emerging that has gone behind the point and click. Imagine your business card has an embedded code that when placed on a multi touch surface it might for example bring up content in your field of expertise or when you touch the photo and slide it to the other side of the screen to your partner that that it takes on the feel of a live organic image.

Windows 7 is certainly an important ground breaking introduction for the multi touch community and takes it main stream, however hardware and OS systems alone can not make multi touch persuasive for the masses. At least not until the software developer community gets behind multi touch in a big way and starts to create and deliver exciting new applications. For those in the programming community who catch on earlier will be the ones who get the head start.

There are a number of emerging players in the market that are starting and offering innovative touch experiences however iQRite believes we aint seen nothing yet as this technology starts to emerge from geeksville into mainstream.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer took to the stage in New York Thursday to launch Windows 7. In a day of worldwide events, Ballmer took on the role of chief salesman hoping to convince consumers and business to migrate to the new operating system.

For those who have not had a chance to catch their breath yet here is a link covering a multitude of topics on the new Windows 7.

iQRite Division intends to be an enabler of innovative touch experiences and is keen to talk with collaborators world wide.

Join an exclusive opportunity to become a iQRite Touch Frame Distributor and Reseller. As we prepare to launch the unique iQRite Touch Frame expressions of interest are invited for both Country Distributors and Resellers or Dealers. This is a rare opportunity to participate in the growth of the single, dual and multi touch markets internationally. Securing an opportunity to align yourself with the iQRite brand and capture sales, secure your channel market and to build your distribution network in a number of vertical markets, only comes along once in a while.

Many PC distributors and resellers are counting on Multi Touch to become their next wave of sales as Windows 7 hits the street 22 October 2009. Exhibitors are counting on touch to give them that edge to their static displays. In store touch is becoming the persuasive way to allow customers to engage with cataloques and product information.

With the growing demand for touch screen in the classroom, desktop, digital signage, entertainment now it is the time to secure a position.

The savvy business owner understands that it is far more profitable to be a leader rather than a market follower and for those with a solid business, sound financials and a vision to grow, then iQRite touch frames become the vehicle to enhance your bottom line.

To be considered as a partner in the iQRite vision send an email or phone CTO Kevin Andreassend and share your passion for being a leader.
